Modern Slavery Statement
Modern Slavery Statement
EFI Furniture is committed to conducting its business ethically and with integrity, and to taking reasonable steps to ensure that modern slavery and human trafficking have no place in our operations or our supply chains. This statement sets out our business, our supply chains, the steps we take to identify and address modern slavery risk, and our commitment to continuous improvement.
Our structure, operations and business
EFI Furniture is an Australian family-owned and operated manufacturer of commercial furniture, based at Coolaroo in Victoria. We design and manufacture the majority of our products in-house and supply education, government, healthcare and corporate clients across Australia. Our workforce is employed locally under Australian workplace laws and conditions.
Our supply chains
To manufacture our furniture we source raw materials and components from a combination of Australian and overseas suppliers. These inputs include timber and engineered board, steel and metal componentry, foams and upholstery fabrics, plastics, gas lifts, castors, fixtures and packaging materials. Some of these materials and components may originate from, or be processed in, regions that carry a higher inherent risk of modern slavery.
Risks of modern slavery
We recognise that the risk of modern slavery is generally low within our directly employed Australian workforce, which is covered by Australian employment law. We acknowledge that the greater potential risk sits deeper in our supply chain - particularly in the extraction and manufacture of raw materials and imported components, where visibility can be more limited.
Actions taken to assess and address risk
- We expect all of our suppliers to comply with applicable laws, including those relating to labour rights, workplace health and safety, and human rights.
- We favour local manufacturing and Australian sourcing where practical, which improves visibility and oversight of working conditions.
- We engage with our suppliers regarding their own practices, policies and expectations on ethical sourcing and modern slavery.
- We seek to build long-term relationships with reputable suppliers rather than chasing the lowest-cost source, supporting more responsible sourcing decisions.
Assessing the effectiveness of our actions
We treat the management of modern slavery risk as an ongoing process. We will continue to review our procurement practices, supplier relationships and internal awareness, and to strengthen our due diligence over time as our understanding develops.
Review and approval
This statement reflects EFI Furniture’s commitment to ethical and responsible business. It is reviewed and updated periodically.
